Welcome to the new blog format.

Welcome to the first in the series of videos that are designed to help small general contractor and small specialty contractors to grow their business and to learn how do some of the practices that a lot of the larger contractors do.

I’m Kent Jones and I apologize because my voice isn’t really set out for radio or television, but it takes me forever to sit down and write up a blog post. So you’re going to get Youtube videos instead. Hopefully you can stick with me and hopefully my information will be useful. I use to own a painting business. In 2004 me and two other friends started a painting contracting business. We did really well. We rode the wave of the boom in construction. Made quite a bit of money.  And then ended up dissolving the company after the recession.  Due to the fact that we had three principle owners and there just wasn’t enough money to be made.

I ended up here at Wilson & Hampton. I do project management. I started off in the field and moved into the office. I do a lot with contracts and I’ve learned a lot of things that I wish I would have known when I had my own business. So the purpose of this is really just a labor on my part, to help out those that maybe don’t know some of the next steps and some of the things that you should be doing that can be useful to you so that your business can succeed.

If you do have questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me. I will have my contact info below.

This is an extension of the podcast that we are starting. Construction Career Podcast, you can find it at www.constructioncareerpodcast.com. And hopefully we will be of use to you and give you good advice. Stick with me if you do have ideas for things you would like to learn about or like me to talk about.  Feel free to reach out in the comments or to send an email directly to me. Thank you for your time and we look forward to continuing this with everyone.
